My principal place of residence is in the Ōtorohanga District Council area. I am also standing for Rangiātea Māori Ward.
I was raised along the beautiful West Coast, in the communities of Tahaaroa and Kawhia. I was fortunate to attend boarding school before returning home in my senior years at Ōtorohanga College. My husband and I have raised our four children here, and we are proud to call Ōtorohanga home.
Most of my career has been in education, working across both English and Māori mediums. That journey has opened doors into public and private governance spaces, where I’ve developed a deep appreciation for collaboration, inclusiveness, and thoughtful leadership.
As a business owner, I advocate for inclusive policies. I’m committed to ensuring every voice in our community is heard, valued, and respected. I also want to acknowledge those who have come before me as mayor. I hold deep respect for their service and leadership.
For me, leadership means being active, present, and always focused on building a strong and sustainable future.
Three sitting councillors are looking to replace Max Baxter as mayor of Ōtorohanga in October, guaranteeing the district will welcome a new leader after October’s elections.
