    Candidate Statement

My principal place of residence is in the Christchurch South/Ōwhanga Constituency area.

Kia ora, I’m standing to bring independence, capability, and a long-term vision grounded in both tradition and innovation for our future.

I bring extensive experience in environmental work, having served as a technical expert for freshwater, contributed to regional policy statements, and developed climate adaptation and sea level rise plans. I run an environmental consultancy focused on sustainable land and water use and was the world’s first council-appointed cultural land management advisor. I’ve recently completed my tenure as Chair of Te Rūnaka o Koukourarata and have held governance roles within Kāi Tahu.

Teamwork has shaped me – on the rugby field, working alongside farmers, and on our marae. Raised here with whakapapa stretching back over 700 years, this whenua anchors me.

We need fresh thinking backed by proven experience to protect our environment, respond to climate change, and strengthen communities. I’m ready to serve with integrity, energy, and purpose.
