** Update for November 26, 2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ ** Winston’s flip-flop-flip ------------------------------------------------------------ Winston voted for the Regulatory Standards Act, then said he would vote to repeal it, then said he won’t support my Member’s Bill to do exactly that. He really should be a gymnast. This week I lodged a bill to repeal the Act, and I’m still calling on Winston to put his money where his mouth is and back it. Christopher Luxon has given corporate interests more power than the public in backing this law. Everything from clean water to health and food safety is at risk from the influence of corporate lobbyists. Labour has committed to repealing this in its first 100 days - but we don’t have to wait. We can do it right now, but it appears Winston isn’t serious about his rhetoric. Despite voting for in Parliament, then walking that support back with Winston saying he’ll repeal it, New Zealand First isn’t walking their talk on Regulatory Standards. I don’t think it’s me playing games with the New Zealand public here. Labour puts Kiwis first, not lobbyists. It’s time to repeal this law and restore common sense to our regulations. My Bill can get rid of a harmful law that fewer than one per cent of Kiwis supported - and was pushed through anyway by a weak and out of touch Luxon.
