Selena Yanpei-Lu Renner

My name is Selena Renner, and I am standing as an independent candidate for the Waitematā and Gulf Ward and Local Board in the 2025 Auckland local elections. I have lived in Parnell for 12 years, and I care deeply about both central Auckland and the Hauraki Gulf islands, including Aotea Great Barrier, which are such valued parts of our region.

I bring a broad professional background to local decision-making, having worked in real estate, project management, film, and hotel development. These experiences give me insight into housing, infrastructure, and economic development – but also remind me of the importance of creativity, balance, and community voices in supporting decisions for the future.



1. Balance Growth with Heritage Protection

Enable high-density housing while protecting historic and character areas, preserving Auckland’s identity and livable neighborhoods.

2. Fund Infrastructure Responsibly

Use the Auckland Future Fund for transport and utilities upgrades, supporting growth and quality of life without burdening ratepayers.

3. Revive Tourism and Culture

Boost arts, culture, sports, and film to attract visitors, create jobs, grow the economy, and raise Auckland’s global profile.

I believe action, balance, communication, and democracy are at the heart of good local leadership. My promise is to listen carefully, work hard, and deliver practical solutions that improve everyday life for both the Gulf islands and the Central City.
