Kerrin Leoni

Official Candidate Biography

It’s time for change and effective leadership for our region. Auckland needs a new leader who will stand up for Aucklanders and is accessible across all communities. A Mayor who is hardworking, and accountable in planning for now and future generations.

I'm a proud Aucklander ready to tackle the big issues for our region. Traffic congestion, reliable transport, water infrastructure, affordable housing, homelessness and cost of living. I've served on council for 6 years as Local Board Deputy Chair and Ward Councillor. I’ll work hard to achieve value for money, keeping rates below double digits and not just sit in the ivory tower.

I bring business experience in property investment and running my own consultancy in the UK. I'm a qualified economist and community leader.

My policies will future proof Auckland as a greener, safer, more liveable region for all.

Woke Wayne takes on the grey masses
The Spinoff — September 22, 2025

Auckland mayor Wayne Brown went to a mayoral debate filled with reliable Wayne Brown voters, and proceeded to annoy as many of them as he could. Wayne Brown kicked off the Grey Power North Shore mayoral debate with an ingratiating joke. “It’s good to be back again talking to a demographic in which I fit quite nicely,” he said, as he looked over the gold-card-toting crowd at the Barfoot & Thompson Netball Centre. Auckland’s mayor spent the next 30 minutes pissing off as many of his peers as possible.

Mayoralty schmayoralty: these are the races that will decide the future of Auckland
The Spinoff — September 17, 2025

Barring an admittedly quite precedented meltdown, Wayne Brown probably has the Auckland mayoralty in the bag. But the type of council he’ll lead will come down to the wire. Wayne Brown isn’t that interested in his own election race. Auckland’s incumbent mayor hasn’t bothered to turn up to most debates, preferring to let his rivals argue with a picture of his face.

Sitting councillor Kerrin Leoni has been dealt a bruising poll result, lagging behind Animal Justice’s Rob McNeil, but insists she offers the leadership Auckland needs.
