My principal place of residence is in the South Canterbury/Ōtuhituhi Constituency area.
With the support of my family, friends, and colleagues, I am standing for the Canterbury Regional Council in this year’s local body elections.
I believe we are entering the most turbulent period for regional councils since their formation in 1990. Central government has been openly questioning the need for regional governance and suggesting alternative structures. This creates both challenges and opportunities for our communities.
South Canterbury deserves experienced and effective representation to help navigate these changes. Although there is a relatively small population of around 67,000 between the Waitaki River and the Rangitata River, we make up 40% of the Canterbury region by area.
Our voice must be strong - and must be heard.
Clear, knowledgeable advocacy is essential to ensure our interests are protected and promoted.
I look forward to your support this September.
