Invercargill is an electorate that has existed since 1866. It covers Invercargill city and surrounding rural communities including Bluff and Riverton as well as Stewart Island / Rakiura. It has been won by National since 2005 and is considered a reasonably safe National seat. In the 2025 boundary review Invercargill gained lost an area west of Winton from the Southland electorate.
