The Kaikōura electorate covers the north-eastern South Island, from Cook Strait in the north to the Ashley River / Rakahuri in the south. The electorate is named after the town of Kaikōura near the center of the electorate. Its biggest town is Blenheim; other towns include Amberley, Ashley, Cheviot, Culverden, Goose Bay, Hanmer Springs, Havelock, Hawarden, Hurunui, Picton, Rai Valley, Renwick, Seddon, Waipara, Waiau, Wairau Valley and Ward. In the 2025 boundary review the Kaikōura electorate’s boundaries were unchanged from the 2020 review.
