Ōtāhuhu is a vibrant, working-class electorate in South Auckland, serving as a critical hub for the city’s logistics, manufacturing, and transport industries. Anchored by the town centres of Ōtāhuhu and Ōtara, the area is renowned for its rich multicultural character, home to one of New Zealand’s largest Pasifika communities alongside significant Māori and Asian populations. The electorate includes the bustling industrial precincts around the Māngere Inlet and Highbrook, as well as major infrastructure like Middlemore Hospital. Politically, the seat is a fortress for the Labour Party, inheriting the legacy of the former Panmure-Ōtāhuhu and Manukau East electorates. It consistently delivers massive margins for Labour, reflecting its strong union history and working-class demographic, although it often records some of the lowest voter turnout rates in the country. The seat is currently held by Jenny Salesa, who has represented the area since 2014. In the 2025 boundary review the Panmure-Ōtāhuhu electorate shifted south and east and was renamed Ōtāhuhu.
