Rangitīkei is a vast and productive electorate in the lower North Island, stretching from the central high country down to the Kapiti Coast. Historically a rural stronghold centered on the Rangitīkei District and towns like Feilding, Marton, and Bulls. Politically, the seat is a fortress for the National Party, reflecting its conservative rural and provincial heartland. It has been held by National for most of its history, with the notable exception of the late 1970s and early 80s when it was held by Social Credit leader Bruce Beetham. The electorate is currently represented by Suze Redmayne, who won the seat for National in 2023, continuing the party’s long dominance in the region. In the 2025 boundary review Rangitīkei extended southwards to include Foxton, Levin and Manakau and lost the town of Ashhurst to Wairarapa.
