Filling up the war chest
Hi [Name]
November is going to be a busy month, with several major fundraisers and a by-election to look forward to!
This coming Saturday we will be joining together with other Labour Party electorate committees to hold a big fundraising bash at the Grand Century in Tory Street. All of the proceeds will go towards the Mana by-election campaign. Tickets are $50 each.
We have a fantastic candidate in Kris Faafoi and the team on the ground are running an excellent campaign. Help us fill up the war chest and enjoy a fantastic meal at the same time. Contact Janette Granville on [Email] or 5635443 (after hours) to get tickets.
Later in the month we're also holding a fundraiser for our own campaign here in Rimutaka. I invite you to join us on a cruise around Wellington Harbour on Thursday 18th of November at 6.30pm. Tickets are $60, which covers the cruise, drinks and a BBQ on board the boat. Flick me an email if you'd like to come. Numbers are strictly limited so get in quick!
Thank you once again for all of your support.

The past few weeks have been busy ones out and about in the electorat.e I enjoyed the opportunity to attend a very early morning noa (blessing) for the rebuilt Upper Hutt Public Library. Later in the day I spoke at its formal reopening. The new library looks fantastic. It has always been a cornerstone to our community so it's great to see its been modernised and expanded.
Last week I also took part in Summerset Retirement Village 10th anniversary celebrations. It was great to get another chance to speak with some of our senior citizens about all matter of things. I was delighted to join the Mayor Wayne Guppy, Village management and residents in planting a tree to commemorate the occassion.
Key fails NZ in Hobbit dispute
The National-led government’s poor handling of The Hobbit dispute has cost New Zealanders dearly. John Key simply caved in to the demands of a Hollywood movie giant. He has clearly failed to maintain the strong relationship that Labour established with US film companies when it was in power.
When it hit crisis point, he panicked and simply threw money at the problem, giving away another $33m precious taxpayer dollars to movie mogul Warner Bros on top of the $60m already promised in subsidies. This is just another example of John Key’s shoddy leadership skills. He’s so wrapped up with gimmicks like cycleways, job summits and mining National Parks that he failed to see the developing Hobbit dispute.
New Zealanders have been used as pawns in a game that’s all about profit for Warner Bros, rather than what’s in the best interests of our country.
