Jim Bolger to Chair Establishment Board of KiwiRailFormer Prime Minister the Rt Hon. Jim Bolger has been appointed Chairman of the Establishment Board for KiwiRail. Jim Bolger has played a major role in the success of State Owned Enterprises such as NZ Post and KiwiBank, and brings skill and dedication to the job. He will be joined on the board by: • Brian Corban, Recommendations on the structure and management of the rail businesses will be considered by Cabinet following a report from a Rail Development Group in August. Now that both the tracks and the business are back in New Zealand ownership we can begin revitalising the system to fulfill its potential as an efficient provider of sustainable freight and passenger transport. With growing worldwide awareness of climate change and the need for our country to be more sustainable, and with the price of a barrel of oil reaching an historic US$142, many nations are looking at rail as a central component of their economic infrastructure – and so must New Zealand.
