This morning, our colleague Jeanette Fitzsimons announced that she will step down as an MP from 11 February. This follows her resignation as Co-leader and Metiria's election last year.

We'll really miss having Jeanette in Parliament. She has a wealth of experience and knowledge of Green issues and has been a real mentor and support to me and the other Green MPs. She's also loved and respected all over the country.

She will remain part of the Green family, and we will be delighted to welcome Gareth Hughes as our newest Green MP (and the youngest in Parliament). Gareth is a veteran climate change campaigner, most recently coordinating Greenpeace's SignOn campaign. We are lucky to have him.

Regards

Russel Norman, Green Party Co-Leader
