This week's video and audio

This week's video: An amazing defender of human rights: Green Party MP Keith Locke explains what it meant for him to have hosted Uighur human rights activist Rebiya Kadeer. Keith points out that - more often than not - the media in New Zealand are only interested in reporting about free trade agreements with China and ignore the human rights problems that exist in that country. [Video, 2m04s]

This week's podcast: The great bus robbery: These are good times to own a bus company in Wellington. One company, Infratil, owns more than 90% of the bus market here. Listen to Jeanette Fitzsimons discuss monopoly behaviour, inflated ratepayer subsidies and Infratil's undermining of the first ever competitive tender in the Hutt Valley. [Audio, 7m52s]

Public needs reassurance on clean-up of toxic sites

Government's foot in mouth on Biosecurity

"This week in the House I asked the Minister of Agriculture about Foot and Mouth disease. This disease is endemic in Malaysia, with outbreaks literally every year. The virus causing foot and mouth disease is able to survive for many days in soil and water. In other words there is a real risk of introducing foot and mouth disease into New Zealand via palm kernel imports."
