The Hurunui River in North Canterbury is the only wild river in the east of the South Island that runs free from mountain to sea via a natural inland lake. It is important habitat for endangered birds and is enjoyed for holidays and recreation. Yet the Hurunui is under threat from an application to dam it for irrigation and hydro. If you care about our wild rivers and water quality, please make a submission:
