Dear [Name],

This week, ACT’s been busy delivering real results — and calling out the madness.

We’ve renamed a government agency to include all victims, exposed a $2.3 million disco toilet in Wellington, and secured a record boost for GPs.

While others are still playing politics, ACT is getting stuff done.

So let’s get into it 👇

$2.3 Million for a Toilet Block? Wellington’s Flushing Your Rates Away on a Light Show

Wellington City Council just spent $2.3 million on a public toilet with disco lights. That’s not a joke — that’s where Wellington ratepayers’ money is going. And it’s exactly why ACT Local is standing candidates in this year’s local elections.

Even the Wellington City Council’s own press release bragged the toilets would “bring colour, accessibility and convenience to the area.”
Translation: it’s a toilet block, dressed up like an art installation.

Yes, accessibility matters. Of course it does. ACT supports accessible facilities. But not at $2.3 million a pop. Not when pipes are crumbling and rates are rising by 12.4%.

As David Seymour proved with school lunches — you can deliver the same outcome for half the cost. The Council just doesn’t want to. They’re not interested in value for money, they’re interested in vanity.

They missed the memo on the cost of living crisis, and their refusal to face reality has reached the point of pisstaking.” — Cameron Luxton

This year, let’s flush the waste and fix our councils.

Vote ACT Local in your local election

It’s not a tall order. It’s pretty simple: when people need to go to the bathroom, they’re not looking for a light show.

GP Funding Boost: ACT Promised It — Now You’ve Got It

After years of watching Labour pour money into bureaucrats instead of patients, ACT has helped deliver a record 13.89% funding boost for general practices.

“This boost means more people will get the care they need – without being forced into overcrowded emergency departments.” — David Seymour

ACT’s 2023 campaign called for a 13% increase. We got 13.89%. That's follow-through.

“Labour blew billions building a bloated Wellington health bureaucracy... ACT is proud to have pushed for funding that actually helps people get the care they deserve.” — David Seymour

That’s what you get when the grown-ups are in charge.

ACT Restores Clarity and Inclusiveness to Family Violence Response

Karen Chhour has changed the name of the Government’s family violence agency to its proper legal name: The Executive Board for the Elimination of Family Violence and Sexual Violence.

Why? Because support should be for everyone, not just one group.

“This decision reflects the reality that all people are potentially victims of Family Violence and Sexual Violence,” – Karen Chhour

The old Labour-era setup used an informal te reo name and excluded everyone except Māori from its advisory board. ACT is replacing that with a multicultural board that includes Pasifika, Asian, Pākehā, and migrant voices, people Labour deliberately left out.

“I need a board that reflects the diversity of our nation, not just the 17% who identify as Māori.” – Karen Chhour

Karen, a survivor herself isn’t playing identity politics. She’s making sure the system works for all victims.

This is a return to common sense and clarity. This is what equality looks like: one standard of care for every New Zealander. ACT’s making it happen.

No More Delays. No More Excuses. ACT’s Infrastructure Plan Gets It Done.

This week ACT welcomes a draft of our National Infrastructure Plan:

“This plan is a game-changing step toward getting the best-value infrastructure projects built, at the right price and on time.”David Seymour

What’s changed?
✔ Smarter funding
✔ Long-term planning
✔ No more start-stop politics, driven by local vetoes and shifting governments

Under Simon Court’s leadership, ACT has done the heavy lifting:
✅ Scrapping the RMA
✅ Unlocking private capital
✅ Securing long-term regional deals

“Without ditching the RMA, projects will continue to be held up for years of arguments about effects that we already know how to manage well.” – David Seymour

For too long, New Zealand’s infrastructure has been a victim of politics, with projects approved, delayed, cancelled, re-announced, and delayed again. That ends now.

So while former governments have made excuses, ACT is making sure the job gets done.

Until Next Week

It’s been another week of rolling up our sleeves and getting things done — fixing the mess, cutting waste, and standing up for real Kiwis with real solutions.

ACT is leading with action, not slogans, and if you’ve had enough of waste, spin, and woke politics — stay loud. We’ve got your back.

Thanks for standing with ACT. Let’s keep pushing for real change.
