** Update for July 8, 2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ ** Jobs, health, homes ------------------------------------------------------------ Labour leader Chris Hipkins is coming to Christchurch next week. It’s your chance to hear him outline Labour’s vision for New Zealand and ask questions. Every New Zealander deserves the peace of mind that they can pay the bills, support their family, and plan for the future. But under Christopher Luxon life is getting harder. He promised his business background would help fix things — instead, he’s made them worse. National is cutting jobs, cutting women’s pay, and driving up costs. Labour’s top priority will be to help people with the cost of living. We will take action on power prices and make seeing a doctor cheaper. We will back local businesses and invest in good jobs, so everyone has a future they can count on. Jobs New Zealand can be a place where jobs pay well and young people want to stay, raise families, and make the most of opportunities. But right now, even people who are doing everything right are still finding it tough. Labour will partner with businesses to create jobs and boost industry - helping create high-quality jobs in every part of the country, so everyone can build a life here at home, and young talent won’t be going overseas in record numbers. Health Labour believes everyone should be able to stay healthy and get care when they need it - close to home, without the cost or the wait. Under Christopher Luxon, it's getting harder and more expensive to see a doctor or nurse. As a result, people stay sick longer and hospitals are overstretched. Labour will make it cheaper and easier to get care close to home - so you get help when you need it, and hospitals are there when it matters most. Homes Everyone should have a safe, warm, affordable home near schools, work, and healthcare. Instead, Christopher Luxon has put property speculators first - handing them nearly $3 billion in tax breaks while families struggle with rising bills. Labour will put affordability first - building the homes people need and making renting fairer and more secure. Join us This event is on Thursday July 17.
