Kia ora [Name],

I’m asking for your help now to build the foundations for next year’s election - so that as many New Zealanders as possible know that a vote for the Greens is a vote not just to change the Government, but for a Government of sustainable change.

Last week, Marama shared with you how you can help us start to build our biggest, boldest general election campaign yet. If you responded, thank you!

You’ve hopefully by now heard about our Green Budget: our fully-costed plan to rebuild our infrastructure, create more than 40,000 jobs and rapidly reduce climate-changing emissions. Our recent Fiscal Strategy builds on this to show how forty years of bad fiscal programming have produced devastating real-world results as our hospitals, schools, and infrastructure fall apart - and demonstrates how we can instead have an economy for the people, by the people.

We know it’s not enough to just have the policies that will ensure everyone has what they need to thrive. We’ve got to work to connect with even more New Zealanders, especially those who are struggling right now. We’ve got to build mainstream understanding of the power of the people to create an economy that works for people and the planet, instead of exhausting and exploiting both.

Luxon’s Government wants everybody to believe that New Zealanders aren’t enough. That we apparently can’t have the world-class public health and education systems that previous generations built and enjoyed, that we don't have what it takes to ensure every New Zealander has a roof over their heads. It wants us to believe that we all have to settle for far less than we deserve.

Our country now is wealthier than it has ever been, yet half a million New Zealanders are using food banks every week. Despite New Zealand ranking near the bottom of OECD countries for children’s wellbeing, the coalition has slashed funding for services that families rely on and used this to pay for tax breaks for wealthy landlords and tobacco companies - and a $200 million taxpayer hand-out for fossil fuel exploration and extraction.

This is what we’re being asked to accept - to play a rigged game where fewer and fewer people win while the rest of us lose. A game which now sees 311 families hold more wealth than the bottom two-and-a-half-million combined - and which sees the average New Zealander pay more than twice the effective tax rate of the wealthiest.

The rules of this game are not natural. They’re made up. They are political choices.

That’s the message Marama, myself and our MPs and I are taking to communities across Aotearoa right now on our Green Budget roadshow, and that’s the message we need to take to all New Zealanders at the general election next year.

To do that, I need your help, [Name].

Running our most ambitious campaign yet won’t come cheap. We know that a vast and growing number of New Zealanders want the change that only a Green government can deliver. Unfortunately, we also know that wealthy, vested interests will be pouring unprecedented amounts of money into the coffers of coalition parties, while fueling misinformation to distract from the real issues - all so that they can continue fixing the rules in their favour.

To build a campaign that can cut through all that noise, we need to get started now.

I’m stoked that later this month, we’ll be welcoming our new Campaign Director for 2026, Leroy Beckett, who helped lead our history-making Auckland Central campaigns in 2020 and 2023. We need your help to further grow our campaign team, to build our infrastructure, and to look ahead to the election with confidence that we can go all out.

It’s time to organise. Your $3 gift today will help us do just that - share our vision and bring the people of this country together around the better future that is not only possible, but entirely within our reach.

Thank you for being with us on this journey. We’re just getting warmed up.

Ngā mihi nui,

Chlöe Swarbrick
