Hipkins just confirmed that under Labour all roads lead to more taxes, more spending, and more debt – the same recipe that landed New Zealand in the mess we’re still cleaning up.

Just days after announcing a capital gains tax that will hit family baches, small businesses, mum and dad rentals, and other savers, Hipkins confirmed today that he is open to more debt under a Labour government.

Labour hasn’t learned any lessons from the past – all Labour knows how to do is tax hard working Kiwis and dream up new ways of spending it.

In their six years in charge, Labour lifted debt by a whopping $120 billion, and all Kiwis are paying the price – with interest costs now more than $9.5 billion.

And this shows that the capital gains tax is just the start of new taxes to cover their massive spending plans.

National’s strong fiscal management is getting the books back in order. By stopping wasteful spending – like reducing consultant costs by over $1 billion – we are delivering lower taxes and more investment in frontline services like schools and hospitals.

You can’t trust Labour with the economy.
