Official Candidate Statement
My principal place of residence is in the Mayor - Tasman District Council area. I am also standing for election in the Richmond General Ward.
Tasman deserves leadership that looks ahead, not just to the next patch-up job.
As Mayor, I'll build stronger, safer communities: protecting what matters most, planning for floods and future climate realities, and getting Council spending under control. I'll be an evidence-based leader, working with residents and stakeholders rather than talking past them.
My Masters degree, career across urban design and architecture and co-founding NelsonTasman2050 underpin years of championing better planning. I believe in working with nature - not against it - and ensuring that new development doesn't saddle ratepayers with tomorrow's costs.
Over the last 12 years, my wife and I have built a small farm and agritourism business while raising our three children who attend(ed) local schools. I enjoy the outdoors, tramping and growing things.
I stand for stopping urban sprawl, reducing congestion and celebrating our countryside while revitalising our towns and villages.
